Bio
Executive Director of the Krebs Center for the Humanities, Professor of English, and Co-Chair of the AI program at Lake Forest College. He leads HUMAN, a $1.2 million Mellon-funded initiative integrating humanistic perspectives on artificial intelligence across disciplines. He collaborates with Silicon Valley AI risk and safety firms, cultural institutions, and K-12 schools on AI ethics. With roots in digital humanities, creative writing, and electronic literature, he brings cautious optimism that foregrounds ethical and humanist dimensions alongside technological possibility.

The Humanist Ethics of AI: “AI Studies” and Your Future Co-Workers
Drawing on HUMAN, Dr. Schneiderman explores how generative technologies reshape creativity, authorship, and ethical norms in academia and culture at large. He will share practical examples from curriculum design, digital humanities, and AI ethics education, offering a framework for how colleges, cultural institutions, and businesses can navigate these tensions.

- RSVP by Sunday, October 6 to reserve your seat and ensure accurate orders for heavy appetizers and the open bar.
- All attendees must sign the Krebs Visitor Agreement. The Center has a no photos policy. We will share the agreement electronically for completion before arrival.
- Parking is limited to approximately 10 to 12 cars in a residential neighborhood. Please carpool. Shuttle support from the main Lake Forest College campus, about one mile away, will be coordinated as needed.
